What It Is

A doctor in the house, not a clinic across town

A live-in doctor programme places a qualified physician and a trained medical companion inside your home for as long as clinical care is needed. Rather than admitting to a facility, the care comes to you — round-the-clock supervision of detox, vitals and general health, all under one roof with the person who is unwell.

The value is continuity and immediacy. A single doctor who knows the case, present through the night as much as the day, can catch a complication the moment it appears — not at the next appointment. It brings hospital-grade safety to drug addiction treatment and alcohol addiction treatment without the ward.

At ZorbaCare — a leading de-addiction and rehabilitation centre in India — the live-in doctor is the clinical backbone of our in-residence treatment. Families across India, from Bangalore and Mumbai to Delhi, choose it for exactly this level of private, continuous care.

Who It's For

When a live-in doctor is the right choice

In-home medical care is not for everyone, and we will tell you honestly when a facility is safer. But for these situations, it is often the ideal answer.

Detox that needs supervision

Where withdrawal carries medical risk but a facility is not an option, a live-in doctor makes at-home detox as safe as a supervised one can be.

Those who won't enter a facility

When someone refuses admission — from fear, denial or pride — a doctor coming to them removes the biggest barrier to getting help at all.

Frailty or medical complexity

Older patients or those with other health conditions need close monitoring. A resident physician manages both the addiction and the wider picture.

Absolute privacy required

For those who cannot be seen at any clinic, care that never leaves the home is the only route that fully protects their name.

A worried, watchful family

When family is exhausted from watching over a loved one, a live-in doctor takes on that vigilance — professionally, around the clock.

Post-discharge support

For the fragile days just after treatment, a short period of live-in medical support can steady the transition back to ordinary life.

How It Works

From first call to a doctor at your door

Setting up live-in medical care is quick and discreet. Here is how a physician comes to be caring for your loved one under your own roof.

01

Confidential assessment

One private call, then a clinical assessment of the substance, health and home. We tell you honestly whether at-home care is safe, or whether a facility is wiser.

02

The team moves in

A qualified doctor and trained medical companion arrive with everything needed, and quietly set up a safe clinical space within the residence.

03

Round-the-clock care

Detox and recovery are managed on-site 24×7 — vitals monitored, medication given, complications caught early, and the family kept informed throughout.

04

A guided next step

Once stable, we plan what follows — a move into the full programme or continued support at home — with aftercare to hold recovery.

Safety comes first. If at any point a residence cannot be made safe, we will say so plainly and recommend the right level of care instead.

Inside The Estate

See where recovery happens

A private residential estate in the Sahyadri hills — the environment is part of the treatment, not a backdrop to it.

What The Doctor Provides

Hospital-grade care, at home

A live-in doctor is far more than a visiting GP. It is continuous, dedicated medical oversight for the whole of the difficult period.

Supervised detox

Withdrawal managed safely on-site, with medication to control symptoms and prevent the seizures and complications that make detox dangerous.

24×7 vitals monitoring

Blood pressure, heart rate and general condition checked around the clock, so anything concerning is caught the moment it appears.

Medication management

Prescribing, adjusting and administering medication in real time — responsive to how the person is actually doing, hour by hour.

Emergency readiness

A doctor on-site means immediate response if a complication arises — and the judgement to escalate to hospital if it is ever needed.

The medical companion

Alongside the doctor, a trained companion provides day-and-night presence, support and a steady hand through the hardest hours.

Family reassurance

Clear, regular updates and a professional taking on the round-the-clock worry — so the family can rest, and simply be family again.

The Setting

Care that fits into the home

The clinical setup is discreet and calm. Recovery happens in familiar surroundings, with medical safety quietly built in around it.

The Difference Presence Makes

A visiting doctor vs. a doctor who lives in

An occasional home visit is not the same as continuous care. When it comes to detox, presence through the night is what keeps it safe.

Visiting / occasional care
  • Care only during the visit — gaps in between
  • Complications at night go unnoticed until morning
  • A different clinician each time, no continuity
  • Family left to monitor and worry between visits
  • No one there the moment something goes wrong
24×7
On-site
A live-in doctor
  • Continuous care, every hour of every day
  • Complications caught the instant they appear
  • One doctor who knows the case throughout
  • Family relieved of the round-the-clock watch
  • Someone there the moment it matters most
An Honest Comparison

Managing alone vs. a live-in doctor

When a facility is off the table, the choice is often between a family coping alone and professional care in the home. These are the differences.

Managing at home alone
Medical safetyNo one qualified to spot or manage a dangerous withdrawal complication.
Through the nightThe riskiest hours faced with no medical presence at all.
MedicationNo professional to prescribe or adjust what is needed as things change.
The familyLoved ones become exhausted, untrained carers, out of their depth.
If something goes wrongPanic, a scramble to hospital, and precious time lost.

Recovery stories from the programme

Some journeys are best heard from the people who lived them. Real stories from people whose recovery began with care that came to them.

Story of loss, pain, and healing.

After losing his wife suddenly, he struggled with alcohol addiction as a way to cope with grief. But over time, he chose to face his pain, seek support, and rebuild his life.

Story of healing, recovery, and hope.

How does a normal working person end up homeless addicted to drugs. That is what happened to me.

Story of strength, struggle, and recovery.

I have lost my love, my job, my family, everything because of my addiction. I thought I would never heal, but now i am more than a year sober.

Story of healing, recovery, and strength.

Started in college as a fun activity from beer to regular frequency drinking. From a life that i loved to out of control drinking.

Getting Started

Arranging a live-in doctor

Bringing medical care into the home is handled quickly and discreetly. If the situation is urgent, we can often move within hours — from anywhere in India.

01

One confidential call

Tell us the substance, the health picture and the home. We assess the risk and tell you honestly whether in-home care is safe.

02

Home & medical assessment

A clinician reviews the health history and the residence, then builds a care plan and confirms what the doctor and companion will provide.

03

The team is deployed

A qualified doctor and medical companion travel to you with everything needed, and set up a safe clinical space in the home.

04

Care begins, family informed

Round-the-clock medical care starts immediately, with clear updates to the family throughout — so you always know how things stand.

Rapid deployment is often possible. If withdrawal is underway or a crisis is unfolding, call now — we can frequently have a doctor with you the same day.

Common Questions

What families ask about live-in care

The questions we hear most before arranging a doctor at home. Anything else — just reach out.

Is at-home detox with a doctor actually safe?

With a live-in doctor, yes — the danger of home detox lies in doing it unsupervised. A resident physician monitors vitals around the clock, manages medication, and can respond immediately to any complication. That said, we assess every case honestly, and if a residence cannot be made safe, we will recommend a facility instead.

Who exactly comes to the home?

A qualified doctor holds clinical responsibility, supported by a trained medical companion who provides day-and-night presence. Together they cover the full 24×7 period, so there is always someone awake and watching over the person.

How long does a live-in doctor stay?

It depends on the need. For detox, that is usually the first 7 to 10 days when medical risk is highest. Some families extend it through early recovery, or use it briefly to steady the transition after treatment. The duration is agreed with you and reviewed as things progress.

What kind of home is needed?

A private home with space for the doctor and companion to stay on-site and for a discreet clinical setup — typically a house, farmhouse or bungalow. During the first conversation we assess the residence and advise on any simple arrangements needed.

What if the situation becomes an emergency?

A doctor on-site means an emergency is recognised and managed immediately, not discovered late. Should hospital-level care ever be required, the physician has the judgement to escalate at once and coordinate the transfer — a safety net a family alone simply cannot provide.

Is it completely private?

Yes. Because care never leaves the home, there is no admission and no institutional record. The team is discreet and bound by confidentiality — for many families, this total privacy is the main reason they choose live-in care.

Will our privacy be protected?

Completely. Confidentiality is central to how we operate, from the first call through admission and aftercare. For many families, that anonymity is the main reason they choose to travel for treatment.
